the system

“Women are being let down by the system. We should speak honestly and frankly about fertility and the fact it falls off a cliff when you’re 35. We should talk openly about university and whether going when you’re young, when we live so much longer, is really the way forward. At the moment, women have 15 years to go to university, get their career on track, try and buy a home, and have a baby. That is a hell of a lot to ask someone. As a passionate feminist, I feel we have not been honest enough with women about this issue.”
Allsopp says fertility is the one thing that cannot change.
“Some of the greatest pain that I have seen among friends is the struggle to have a child. It wasn’t all people who couldn’t start early enough because they hadn’t met the right person,” she said.
“But there is a huge inequality, which is that women have this time pressure that men don’t have. And I think if you’re a man of 25 and you’re with a woman of 25, and you really love her, then you have a responsibility to say: ‘Let’s do it now.’
Why is it the man’s responsibility? In a world of equality men can use the principle “my body, my choice” to get what he wants out of life as well as women. A principle is either sound or it isn’t.
Want to “Have It All”? Then Don’t Do It Backwards
I agree with Kirsty Allsop to a certain extent. Women have too short a time to do everything and there is too much pressure. We’re damned if we do have children young and damned if we don’t. Perhaps society should be more supportive of young single mothers who want to work and study. Right now most young single mothers seem to be stuck in a low-income situation where it is easier not to work than it is to work or study. We need better childcare provision. It is unfair to expect men to commit at an early age or stick around while a woman delays her education or career.
Also women with children who find themselves unexpectedly single in the case of divorce or bereavement should have the chance to upskill so as to provide a better living for their family.
At the end of the day a woman can depend on nobody but herself.
I agree too. I think people expect to have everything they want when they want it and life just doesn’t work like that – things happen, and people happen, and you just have to get on with it and make the best of it. In general I think people would be a lot happier with their life if they were grateful for what they did have and were a bit more realistic about what they could have and prioritise accordingly. In terms of being criticised by others for my decisions – at the end of the day it’s my life and i couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks of it as long as I’m happy with it.
Women who marry and/or have children young do not have the same social mobility as those who wait. There is a sweet spot between early and late that needs to be respected by sociey. There should be shaming of men who refuse to commit to women in their “sweet spot,” as well as employers who use degree inflation to push women’s careers later and later.
Hahahahaha. Yeah. Good luck with that.
There should be shaming of men who refuse to commit to women in their “sweet spot,”……
Good one, comrade.
How about shaming of women who refuse to commit to men in their “sweet spot?”
‘How about shaming of women who refuse to commit to men in their “sweet spot?” ‘
What planet to you live on? This very blog is founded on the fact that women are shamed for being single! This could be because they refuse to commit to men in their sweet spot. However it’s more likely some women are single because men refuse to commit to women in their sweet spot.
Remember, men have a much bigger sweet spot than women. So why should society continue to shame women only while lauding men who don’t commit to women in their sweet spot.
Mike, women are already shamed at every stage: married too young, married too late, etc. You’re right that women are inherent collectivists, if that’s what your “comrade” is referring to. All societies are collectivist in their natural state. What scares you about this? Do you fear that women only want you for your money? That is sad.
The only fear I have is for my children and grandchildren. You might not understand that of course, but women’s collectivism leads directly to coercive and authoritarian government. Pretty much what we have now but it can get a lot worse. Just ask the Russians, or the Chinese, or the Cambodians, etc., etc.
You’ll think this is funny, or ridiculous, or both and my concern will sail right over your head as you’re genetically hard-wired only to be concerned about things that affect you directly today.
“Just ask the Russians, or the Chinese, or the Cambodians, etc., etc.”
Did I miss something when I was learning history in school? Were Stalin, Mao Zedong and Pol Pot female?
They must have had evil feminazi teachers at primary school or been turned down by an evil feminazi girl for a date with someone else.

You are seeing a prime example of the cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy that exists amongst Male Supremacists. They also love to talk about all the “laws” that have given all women” total power” over all men, but neglect to mention that the lawmakers (including the Supreme Court) are overwhelmingly male.
A man committed suicide recently because of what the family courts did to him, Before he died he set up a blog called “Good Men Did Nothing” (with the term “men” being used in the Burkean sense i.e. good people) which detailed the immoral behaviour (including sins of omission) by various people involved in his divorce. The Manosphere twisted this man’s story into one of male oppression at the hands of the female gender. They used his tragic death to advance their Male Supremacist agenda. It is one of their more revealing moments.
They are by and large an ugly bunch with a very warped sense of morality.
This thread shows what we already know. There’s very little common ground between the ways men and women conceive their existence.
To me, big government is the problem and any group that petitions big government for special treatment is part of the problem.
Many (most?) women like big government as they correctly perceive big husband government as a way to get what they want, paid for by some anonymous faceless schmuck.
You might call this irreconcilable differences.
I see only one women stating that big government is the solution to get what they want, etc.
Yes, that is a common view among many women, but I don’t see this thread as clear proof of that, by any means. Even the women saying “men should be shamed for not wanting to get married” (which I disagree with) don’t appear to be demanding government action. Can you point to where they are?

Each woman as an individual has plausible deniability. You can look in the mirror and truthfully say you have never stood in front of a political representative to demand political action. I get that.
But that’s not how misandry works. For many decades a vocal minority of women has petitioned state and federal government in the USA, primarily through the Democratic Party, to enact legislation that benefits women at the expense of men. Whenever I have discussed this with women the reaction has always been something like, “oh well,” “too bad,” “it’s just payback.” I have never heard a woman say that this is a fundamental injustice. As a matter of fact, most women don’t really care if this coercive, collectivist social structure eventually collapses as long as they get their bennies today.
I live in a state that until recently had lifetime alimony and in practice still does. That is just the very tip of the iceberg of a biased national family court system supported by a slew of misandric legislation at the state and federal level. If you’re looking for specifics, my favorites are the Bradley Amendment and VAWA.

I’m a man, if it matters.

That’s not what you said, though. You said “this thread shows.” There was a conversation consisting of at least 4 women, only one of whom was using collectivist/left-wing rhetoric. And Ranty’s commentors have, in the past, criticized the high taxation and expensive social programs of welfare-state models in the past.
“As a matter of fact, most women don’t really care if this coercive, collectivist social structure eventually collapses as long as they get their bennies today.”
Probably true, because “most” means more than half. I’d probably say, for many, they just don’t realize how close a collapse might be to happening. Again, though, I don’t see how it was demonstrated in this thread.

Are the majority of state legislators in your state women? I’d be shocked.
My husband is also pro-collectivism. We are both pro-basic-income and hope our daughter can live in a more humane society than capitalism currently offers. I imagine that gives you chills the same way your views give me chills.
You’re already living in the most humane society in the history of the human race. Capitalism gave you that unprecedented gift.
Collectivism leads to demonization which leads to genocide. It’s hard to imagine that the political impulses that seem so reasonable and so humane can lead to such terrible outcomes.
You truly don’t understand what you’re wishing for.
