comfort zones

Another good book:
“These were people who had realized that the value of life was … getting out from behind your comfort zone and going places and doing something to help people,” she says. “When you’re sitting in a newsroom in L.A. with people who are dealing with commutes and mortgages and ‘Oh my God, I don’t have a baby and I don’t have a boyfriend’ it’s easy to forget.”
Yeah but that still doesn’t solve things. I was going thru a depressing week (dealing with a difficult elderly person) and as I was sharing with someone I said “Well, others have it worse”. What that person said to me was “that doesn’t make you feel better”. And that’s true. Things can distract you from you pain but it doesn’t take it away until you deal with the issue. No amount of volunteering will do it. The issue will still be there.
